The Perfect Easter Bread

Ingredients

  • 150 g fresh yeast

  • 500 g butter

  • 250 g plant-based butter

  • 1 kg sugar

  • 15 eggs

  • 2 glasses of raisins (approx. 300–400 g)

  • 50 g vegetable oil

  • 1 liter milk

  • 3 kg flour

  • 4 packets of vanilla sugar

  • 1 teaspoon salt

Directions

  • Crumble the yeast into a large plate.
  • Grate the cold butter over the yeast.
  • Grate the plant-based butter.
  • Sprinkle all the sugar evenly on top.
  • Add the dry raisins as a layer.
  • Pour the oil over the raisins.
  • Pour the boiled milk (cooled to room temperature) over everything.
  • Cover with a towel and let it sit in a warm place for 9 hours without stirring.
  • After resting, gradually add the flour, vanilla sugar, and salt.
  • Knead the dough until smooth and elastic.
  • Let the dough rise for 2 hours in baking forms, filling each form halfway to allow room for the dough to expand.
  • Preheat the oven to 340°F (170°C).
  • Bake for 30 to 50 minutes, depending on the size of the loaves.

Notes

  • This recipe contains too much salt.
